Bacteriological Etiologic Diagnosis, Mode of Infection and Management of Chronic Osteomyelitis: A Prospective Hospital-Based Study in Bangladesh

Background: There are different factors responsible for chronic osteomyelitis. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to find out bacteriological aetiology osteomyelitis patients. Methodology: This prospective hospital-based conducted in Department Orthopaedic and Traumatology at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital, bazar, Bangladesh from January 2019 June 2022 a period three half years. Eligible patients enrolment had sustain an osseous infectious process confirmed by radiological findings lasting more than 2 weeks without acute symptomatology or few contributory laboratory results. were recorded antimicrobial sensitivity testing performed dis diffusion test. Results: A total number 89 cases recruited this study. mean age with SD population 11.5±7.89 years range 1 42 Infected scabies most common cause among which 42.0% children group; however, there no adult group. Otitis media, rhinitis dental caries also found 25.0% cases, 5.0% 18.0% respectively. Among group implant surgery 65.0% cases. Most bacterial isolate Staphylococcus aureus 29(32.6%) Coagulase Negative (CoNS) Proteus species second isolated bacteria 17(19.1%) each.
